… I am dusting the cobwebs of my favorites folder in Twitter today, this is going to be a video post. These might be old videos but I love love watching them.
The first is one that, I am afraid, something I’ve already spoken about here a couple of times. The Chennai Floods. Yet, I want to share this video because it made me emotional today even after two months of the tragedy.
Next is the speech by another of this year’s Padma (Shree) award winner that I am really really proud of. Arunachalam Muruganantham. I am sure you’d have heard about the low-cost sanitary pads that he’s got patented under his name. The media click-baited his story as ‘the man who wore sanitary napkins’. Uggh. But this video of him talking at the Ink Conference shows how much he had to sacrifice to get to where he wanted. He is a super-hero.
And you know, like always, I save the best for the last. Again, very old talk but one of the brilliant ones I’ve ever heard. ‘We should all be feminists’ by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. If you can spare thirty minutes of your time today, please please watch this one. If you can’t, then make time for this talk. There can’t be something more pertinent than this in today’s world.
While I am off to my library website digging for Adichie’s books, you all have a great day! 🙂
